Dr. James Walker Jr.
I am a Licensed Psychologist in NJ, Licensed Rehabilitation & Certified Rehabilitation Counselors; additionally, I hold a Certificate in Gerontology.
I was granted degrees from Montclair State University (B.A.), Seton Hall University (M.A.), Kean University (Gerontology Certification), and Rutgers University (Doctorate / Ed.D. in Psychology). My foundational psychological orientation is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy coupled with Patient-Centered Therapy and Psycho-Dynamic frameworks.
I have a longstanding association with NJABPsi that began in 1992 to the present, having served as Corresponding Secretary, Treasurer, Vice-President, and President. I have the privilege of providing good, competent psychotherapy with individuals in the age-range from 18 years to 65+ years (e.g., individual, couples/marriage; medical school students, and medical residents). Additionally, because I am a military veteran (having served honorably in the U.S. Army), I provide psychotherapy with former military personnel re-entering the educational pipeline.
I maintain professional affiliations with NJABPsi, APA, NJ-ACT, NJPA, and NRA to name a few. My hobbies include gardening, hiking & biking, reading, traveling, and being open to new ways of thinking, as I consider myself a lifelong learner.
Finally, I am an ardent believer in Our Creator and Lord who blesses us daily, and in giving the deserving credit to our ancestors on whom shoulders that I now stand, and that we as a people have resiliency embedded within our DNA.
