ABISOLA GALLAGHER, ED.D.
Dr. Gallagher has served as the Director Counseling & Wellness Services Department at New Jersey City University
since 2004, and served as an adjunct professor in the Psychology Department.
She has had a part-time private practice for more than 25years, and her office is located in Montclair, New Jersey. She has also worked as an organizational development consultant, and her clients have included the government of Cape Verde, West Africa, United State Army Corp of Engineers, and the New Jersey Department of Higher Education, Further, she is a member of a number of professional organizations: Association of Black Psychologists, American Psychological Association, Association of University and College Counseling Center Directors, EMDR International Association, New Jersey Chapter-Association of Black Psychologists, New Jersey Psychological Association, New Jersey College Health Association, Essex County Psychological Association, and the Anti-Racist Psychologists Alliance-NJ.
She is a former president of the New Jersey Chapter- Association of Black Psychologists (1989-91) and served two terms on the New Jersey Psychological Association’s Ethics Committee. She earned her doctorate in counseling psychology from Rutgers University, a Master's degree in Counseling from the University of Wisconsin, and graduated with honors from Northeastern Illinois University with a major in psychology.
Dr. Gallagher has published articles in several professional journals and has received numerous awards for her service and leadership.
